Michelle Rivard

I’m Michelle Rivard and I’m a whole lot of fun! My time is split up between working, laughing and tweeting. The best is when I can combine the three. I’ve been a part of the team at Daytime Toronto on Rogers TV 10 for almost two years. In that time I’ve gone from checking in guests at the front door to producing and hosting my own on location interviews, even Live Eye reports. I’ve done reporting work for multiple other shows on Rogers as well: Toronto Sessions 279, Matt About Town, The 2012 Ontario Spelling Bee, and Independent Scene. I’ve appeared on MuchMusic a few times as well, most recently as a guests on #TextOrNext

My involvement in broadcast & media began a few years back. I studied Radio Broadcasting at BCIT in Vancouver.  My school gave me the hands-on training to conquer any job in the radio biz. I took the skills I learned and I started applying them to the world of TV.

I volunteered for 21 long, fun, exciting days as a logger with TSN & CTV during the 2010 Winter Olympics. I got to meet lots of Canadian athletes and even got to hold a GOLD MEDAL in my hands! In April 2010, I made the move to Toronto. I interned at MuchMusic for a few weeks where I got to be a part of a live television production every day.

I LOVE comedy!! Back in Vancouver, I was a writer and performer with a sketch comedy group, Cocktails & Holywater. We produced a monthly show, mixed with live sketches and digital shorts. That show gave me amazing confidence in my abilities not only as a performer, but as a writer as well. I recently did my very first stand-up set as a part of the Second City Stand-Up 101 course. It was fun, exhilarating, exciting and scary as hell!

I am very active in social media. I work as a social media coordinator for one of Toronto’s hottest restaurants, reaching out to thousands of followers on facebook and twitter. My own twitter account @QueenWestGirl allows me an outlet to say hilarious stuff and share the latest news in under 140 characters. As well, I write articles for multiple local websites.

What do I hope for in the future? Well, more experience in broadcasting would be great. I have some amazing ideas for TV shows, websites, digital shorts and more. In the mean time, I’m working on a book of hilarious short stories: “Two Truths and a Lie: A Collection of Semi-Autobiographical Exaggerations”.

Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully we will work together on an awesome project soon. Unless your project involves leprechauns, a hot glue gun, and laughing gas. I won’t fall for that one again...
